Aren’t douches horrible for you?

My mom called me earlier because she wanted me to run to the store to get monistat and a vinegar and water douche. I told her douching was horrible for her but she says the vinegar and water douches are not bad, and help clear up yeast infections and made a hell of a difference for her. I thought that douching was horrible?

They’re definitely bad for you. No one needs to douche as the vagina is a self cleaning entity.

Nope. Douches are bad. From The Vagina Bible, written by a gyneclogist, douches are never recommended.  Just because they are sold in stores does not make them safe. Cigarettes are also sold in stores. Would you recommend smoking to help cure strep throat?

Ok so shes got a yeasrt infection. So ot actually will help clesr out the yeast. So in this instant not horrible. But ordinarily to a healthy average vagina they are bad. Sometimes when your vagina is sick it needs a little help

I don’t know for sure but from what little self-education I have done they don’t sound like the greatest idea ever. I used one as a naive and way uneducated 18 year old and made an already bad yeast infection 10x’s worse.

There are different types..vinegar and water is just that however it isn’t recommended.

Vinegar and water douches actually balance out your pH which is good for your body. Why she's using one of those for a yeast infection. That is a pH imbalance issue. Other douches with scents or that contain other things besides vinegar are not ok. Those do more harm than good. I actually make my own vinegar and water douches. I get bv from my pH being thrown off and that I really the only thing that helps keep me balanced out.
