Wanting to move during Christmas break of 2020

Aiyannah

Hey! So, I haven’t posted since my pregnancy scare in November (I admit I overreacted a little bit 😅). Anyways, my boyfriend and I are still very much in love and today at about 7:15 he goes to school for the first time in 5 1/2 years. He’s been home schooled since about 8th grade, maybe even 7th. (Middle school). He is a sophomore taking junior classes, and has summer school to be a senior next year. He is turning 18 in March too. Anyways, we’ve talked about our future and discussed how we would like to live. We’re in a LDR relationship and it’s a possibility I will see him this summer when I go to Florida for vacation. But of course I want to move in with him. I’ve done my research on how it would be possible as he wants me with him ASAP. I told him the only three ways I’ll be able to go live with him are:

1. Emancipation (I’m 17 and will be 18 in December)

2. I move out during Christmas Break of 2020 and finish High School with him.

3. Wait to graduate from my school right now and then go from there.

I told him becoming emancipated is a long and difficult process that I wouldn’t want to do. I could wait to graduate from my Texas school first and then move there, but we both want me there quickly. So we decided that when I turn 18 I can move out. I will have to start the transfer process the day after my birthday and call the school in Florida. And of course I will have to save up money. I don’t have a job at the moment but plan on getting one after my summer vacation. I have a few ways to save up money until I get a job, but it’s still not guaranteed. For travel expenses I’ll need to save up about $800 for the plane ticket and Uber for when I arrive in Florida. And to get myself started with my school lunches, and any other things I wish to do. I do plan on working when I move there. And we both plan on putting aside money from our paychecks so we can rent our own studio apartment, and upgrade to a one bedroom apartment and later our own house. We have a lot planned out.

I’m pretty sure all this information isn’t useful for my question, but I still feel the need to put it there 😅

So ladies, my question is how many hours a day/week would I need to work to reach my goal, and what is the best way to save up all that money without spending some along the way? Because when I get a job, I’m also not sure what percent of my paycheck I should put in savings.

Also, would it be better to keep it as cash or put it all on a card?
