Do you tip when you go pick up food?

I’m curious to what others do or what is appropriate. I called and ordered pizza and picked it up, there is always space to put a tip but I didn’t. What do you normally do?

Some people will say yes, but I don’t tip if I pick it up. I usually save tips for drivers who use their own vehicle to make the delivery to my home.

Only at the mom and pop places or places where a host or waitstaff had to take time from their other duties to package my order. Not at chains like pizza hut.

It really depends. If I have to speak to someone to take my order I’ll usually tip like 5-10% (depending on the place). If it’s some place where I submit the order online and go to pick it up then I usually don’t tip (like pizza or Panera) unless I’m ordering a large amount of food.

If I pickup and pay cash, I leave the change in the tip box. If I pay with my card, I don’t. Sometimes if they’re REALLY swamped I will tip $1 on the card

Typically no. I usually only tip if I am going out to eat at a restaurant and sitting down or deliveries. But sometimes I feel compelled to tip for pick ups 😊

I do have a lot of friends who work at local restaurants where I live, so I would tip if it was a friend!
