Ultrasound question

My doctor told me, he will do the first ultrasound at 18 weeks. He saw me today for the first time I’m 12 weeks 6 days meaning I’ll be 13 weeks tomorrow. Is that normal ? I’m seeing a new doctor since the one from my previous pregnancy is too far away now that we moved. I had an ultrasound at the hospital at 8 weeks but he wants to wait till 18 to do my first one. I remember my other doctor did an ultrasound the first day I saw him.

Does anyone know if that’s normal or ok? I honestly liked him but that was weird for me I wanted to see my baby today, I only heard the heartbeat, he did a Pap smear and got some blood work
