True Vine
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
John 15:1â€-‬6 KJV
Verse 1 Jesus is the vine that we are to be attached to (connected) and our heavenly Father is the tiller of the ground. In other words Jesus is how we gather to ourselves spiritual nourishment, and Our heavenly Father is who makes sure the ground is free of weeds, thorns and rocks.
Verse 2 This is a warning to us who calls on the name of Jesus. If we do not bare fruit then we shall be removed.( refer to Galatians 5:22 for the fruit of the spirit). But those of us who produce fruits he's going to purify/cleanse so that we can produce more than what we previously produced.
Verse 3 The word of God as we read it, hear it taught/preached or spoke to us through prayer is a cleanser. All we have to do is believe it and walk in the newness of it.
Verse 4 We cannot produce the fruit of Jesus if we dont live in him and allow him to live in us. Hince the scripture in Galatians that says I am dead yet I live but not I that liveth but Christ that lives in me. This is no longer our lives or bodies to what we want to do. But we must do as Christ would have us to do. We can only do that if we are in him and he in us. So we have to read and study the bible daily and put what we read to actions.
Verse 5 Christ restates that he is the vine but we are the branches. In other words we are the carrier and producer of His words. When we go out and mingle with people they should be receiving something from Christ in the way we carry ourselves, talk and treat them. And only through Christ that we can have His fruit produced.
Verse 6 But those of who refuse to be in Christ and obey Him will eventually be cut off. They will be considered useless and cast into a fire. This is a warning that disobedience leads us straight to Hell.
