A thing someone did to my mom at work

I find this really weird, and intrusive for a coworker to do and my mom doesn’t care. A guy kept bumping into my mom at work. Every time he did this she would apologize to him. He did this all day long, and she really thought he was doing it on accident. it wasn’t that big of a deal to her.

Then he said “is your ex husband abusive?”

My mom said “uh what? That’s not really your business.”

And he said “I am studying psychology and I was doing an experiment. When someone has been abused, they apologize when someone else has hurt them. Every single time I bumped into you today, YOU said sorry to ME when I was the one who did it. You never even questioned it when I never said sorry myself.”

And them she said “yes. My ex husband was abusive.” And he was like “so I was right.”

And then they just went on. She doesn’t care but if that happened to me I’d be upset. 2 of her ex husbands were physically abusive one being my dad and her dad was so abusive he nearly murdered my grandma. that can be a really touchy subject for some people. It wasn’t something that would help her and to me it feels like “thanks for reminding me I’ve been abused haha” like??

Edit: nope they work in a warehouse. It had Absolutely nothing to do with their job.
