Baby to hospital visit?

Question

My brother’s wife just went in to labor and I want to go visit but I have my own 4 month old daughter. I wouldn’t take her to the main part of a hospital but is it safer in the women’s ward where it’s only moms and babies? My sister in law brought their 10 month old to the hospital when I had my daughter but that’s older than my daughter right now.... thoughts on bringing her???
First baby and never dealt with this so I have no clue.

Wash up well once you get to their room and sanitize as you leave the hospital and wash again when you get home.  Touch as little as possible on the way through.

I'd suggest checking with the hospital. Our hospitals have a current policy that no children under 16 can visit ANYWHERE in the hospital due to the flu outbreaks. Even the Womens ward. They can lift it anytime, but they are very strick on it where we are. A friend of mines own children couldn't visit their new baby brother due to it. Hope this helps!

Check with the hospital. The one I work at does not allow children under 13 years old to visit (unless extreme circumstances) due to flu/RSV being bad right now. Personally, even if the hospital allowed it, I wouldn’t bring them.

If you bring your baby i would def keep the baby covered until you are in a private room. I had to have surgery (gallbladder) 3 months postpartum and my husband brought the baby to see me at the hospital bc i was there for 5 days. She was ok!

1st - does she want you there with baby? I only ask bc I wouldn’t want other kids.

Look into the hospital policy. When I had my daughter, no one under the age of 12 was allowed on the ward unless they were a sibling of the newborn.  I don’t remember if this was strictly due to flu season (she was born in February) or if it was an all year thing.

You should call and ask the hospital if you can even bring your LO. The maternity ward where I'm delivering doesn't allow visitors inder 13-years-old during flu season.

I would check because the hospitals near me don’t allow anyone under 18 and have certain rules because of the flu.
