As a mama... we....
As a mama we are protective.. others look from the outside and say you are over protective... listen mama I understand...
When you tell them to keep up on school work and they absolutely hate it but you keep pushing them, you get the eye rolls and the attitude but you keep pushing them. Because you want nothing more than to see them be successful..
When you are in a store and make them stay right next to the cart or even hold onto it.. again you get the eye rolls or the attitude because they are "big kids now" but you still make them do it because you can not imagine a life where your baby is snatched up in a store and you have to live a life without them..
When you make sure your daughter is dressed properly when going in public, and before leaving the house she complains that you made her change because the crop top was to flashy and the shorts were to short.. " I'm a teenager mom" "Its summer time" but you still push her to stay covered up and appropriately dressed because you have seen all the facebook post and news channels broadcasting the amount of sex trafficking, girls getting raped in broad daylight. So you take that " my mom is so extreme" title because you can not imagine getting the call that your daughter is in the hospital and has been attacked...
When you continue to remind your newly driving teenager all the rules of the road because you have been driving for some time and you see the way the world is.. you remind them to buckle up and dont text. You hear " mom are you losing your mind? You tell me this everyday". But you own that title because getting the call to a horrible accident scene saying " you need to come immediately there has been a accident". You show up to see your baby's car smashed and crushed while they roll them away on the gurney. With the lights flashing but no sirens..
You as a mother are protective. You proudly take the eye rolls and the smart remarks being made because at the end of the day your precious baby is at home in bed sound asleep and at that moment you know that no matter how much your child gets annoyed with you being protective through the day that you can smile and sleep soundly knowing you did what a mother does best.. you kept your baby safe.. you are not alone .. when you sit at the table or in the car wondering if your child will understand one day why you do the things you do.. no matter what your children adore you and love you unconditionally. keep being the mother that you are because you are kicking ass at it!
