Military wife/mothers: Seeking advice!
Hey ladies,
My husband and I just had our daughter in July of last year. I have been out of work to stay with her, so all financial responsibility has landed on my husband. Working overtime, what feels like all the time, at a job he is miserable at he was thinking about re-enlisting to the Army. He was in the Navy before we got together, and that lifestyle and feeling of doing something for the greater good is something he’s very much drawn too.
He had mentioned it to me, the day after spoke with a recruiter who said he couldn’t do anything until his hand tattoos were gone, and two days later he already has an appointment to get them removed. That itself is a bit of a process but it’s all happening so fast.
We spoke about it, and the thing that I can’t get over or get out of my head is the worst thing, what if he were to die? I know it’s always a possibility and a risk and no matter what he says that’s what scares me the most.
Aside from that moving and when he were to get deployed, being alone with my young daughter and no family or friends would be incredibly hard I could only imagine. The longest we’ve ever been apart was maybe a week at most, so thinking it could be 6 months, a year, longer, that I wouldn’t see him, it really is the hardest thing.
What did you guys do? What helps? How did you handle it with kids?
I just don’t know what to think or say to him. I want him to be happy and it would help us financially, but money means nothing to me if I don’t have him and my family. I’m just so worried he will get in after his tattoos are gone and everything falls apart. I obviously wouldn’t give up, but I’m not going to pretend like it’d be an easy situation with.
Anyway, thank you for reading and any thoughts are so helpful! Thank you!
