Positive Screen for T18?

UPDATE: I talked to a geneticist briefly to answer some of my preliminary questions. She said normal risk for a woman my age (33) is 1:285; my hormones put me at 1:88, which is a 2% chance. My next step is NIPT testing and an ultrasound.

Hi ladies,

Just got a call from my doctors office that my quad screening came back positive for trisomy 18 or Edwards syndrome. I am biology teacher and I should know better than to freak out but I am. Need to hear some positive stories. All I can find is people getting screen positive for Downs. Any advice or expertise/experience is appreciated. I’m posting on multiple boards in hopes of more responses so apologies in advance. Thank you ladies.
