Anyone here with divorced parents that got along?

Question

Is there anyone here who grew up with their parents being divorced but they got along and you felt like a priority? 
I know parents staying together isn't always the best route but I want to hear the child's side of things.  I'm worried about how this will affect our daughter.

She's only 8 months so she won't really remember a time that we were married. 
We will both have full time custody.  When it comes to her we both agree and get along so that's not an issue.

I didn’t, but my husbands parents did.  It’s nice - they still check in with each other and visit each other’s families even though their children are well into their adulthood.  It makes events like birthdays so much easier.
My sister and her sons father were never married, but they co parent beautifully.  Both sides and their families get together for my nephews birthdays and school events, they go to major doctor appointments and school meetings together.  It’s nice for everyone

My parents separated when I was 1 and were divorced when I was 2. They went through a mediator for their entire divorce, everything was super amicable, they agreed on everything. They are still the absolute best of friends. My dad is included in every single family function my mom hosts (I’m 27 now) and he comes to all of them. My mom remarried and my dad was still invited to everything. She divorced my step dad (thank god) but had 3 kids with him, and they all call my dad “Uncle Mike” and he was at every important event in their lives as well. They’re now amazing grandparents to my 2 boys. I’ve always said that they could have stayed married if they could live next door to each other. It was a “too many chiefs, not enough Indians” kind of situation for them. 
I am forever thankful that I grew up with two parents that were friends, but were also HAPPY people in their own right. I was never a kid that said “wow, I really wish my parents were together”. I had an amazing childhood with parents that loved me and respected each other.

my bf's parents are on relatively good terms. his mom comes over a lot to hang out with everyone (she lives out of the way so it's easier for everyone else to meet at his dad's house). he has a good relationship with both of them and they coparent well since they respect each other despite no longer wanting to be romantically involved.

Mine did. Maybe not right away initially but for most of what I can remember they have. They divorced when I was 3. Still went to my dad’s every Tuesday and every other weekend and they’ve gotten along enough that my dad would always still come over to my mom’s a lot on Christmas Eve to open gifts or holidays etc or we’d all go out to dinner if we were celebrating something for me.
Honestly I never had much issue with it because it’s all I ever knew. I think it would have been harder if I was older and remembered them together like my older sister did.

I’m glad there are so many positive stories here but that’s not always the case! It really depends. My mom and dad were very young when they had me and got married. I think they split around 22-23 years old. They never got along, always fought, always talked badly about each other. It has really disoriented my views as an adult now and makes it difficult. I still can’t mention one of them around the other. My husband and his ex are the same. They never got along and absolutely hate each other. The children are old enough to be aware and they don’t say much but I know it bothers them. It’s hard!

My parents divorced but got along, they were very civil and co-parented great. It was hard for us when they divorced BUT I fully believe that is because we were older and remember life before they divorced, the hardest part was getting used to my dad living separately and not seeing him daily... your child won’t remember anything, so she won’t have anything to compare it to which imo would make it way easier and better all around. I loved that my parents got along too.

My husband parents got divorced when he was about 8 year old.  They get along but his mom said they didn’t at first.  But they both say we have kids together we have to work together for them.  They do holidays and family outing together.  My parents couldn’t be in the same room.  My dad was pissed my mom lifted him and she hated him.  She tried to work with him for us but it just never did.  He passed when I was a teenager. I wish my parents where like my husband’s parents.  They are nice to each other. Now I don’t think they are friends but they don’t wish anything bad.

My parents divorced when I was really young. I actually celebrated when they did. My mom did everything she could do for us that was in her control. That was all she could do and she did her best. That’s all you can do for your child. Do your best because you can’t control anyone else’s actions and make sure your child knows your there and putting them first.

My parents got along okay after they divorced. They also lived in separate parts of the country though. I was only 2 so I don’t ever remember them together.
