9 days into motherhood

It’s been a wild ride ladies. My sweet Braelynn is now 9 days old. When she was only 4 days old she stopped having bowel movements which very much concerned this new mom and dad. She has also lost almost a full pound since she was born on 2/17. We have been working closely with an excellent lactation nurse and have already had 3 appointments at the pediatrician to keep her closely monitored. Both pediatrician and lactation nurse said they aren’t overly concerned at this point and they’re sure she’s going to turn the corner soon. It’s so hard to continue to work on nursing and her to continue to expend more and more energy when feeding that the calories she is taking in just get burnt off almost immediately. We are still trying to continue with breastfeeding but it’s soo hard. I just want my baby girl to start putting some weight on. We go back again tomorrow to see the pediatrician again and are hoping to see some improvements. Also, we had a good sign today... she had her first bowel movement since Friday PM 😆 things I never thought I’d be happy to see. 💩 💩
