Are you really ovulating?

Hey everyone!

I posted awhile ago about knowing when I ovulate because I had used the ovulation predictor kits. You know, the ones that give a little smiley face that indicates it’s time for a bit of naughty time with the hubby.

What I didn’t know at the time (& I wish someone had told me!) was that just because you receive the smiley face symbol - it DOES NOT mean you are ovulating.

I’m not a doctor... so I went to one. (For the record can we stop putting doctors on pedestals?! They aren’t Gods!! Use them for consultations, actually discuss your health goals, say no if needed, & even get second opinions. There’s a reason why there is malpractice. Ok rant over)

I had a blood test done at the recommended time (in sync with my personal feminine cycle). Then, after a couple of days, I got a phone call with my results. I am NOT ovulating. Despite many happy faces. For a more accurate explanation of why that is, ask a doctor or nurse who works with women that struggle with fertility.

I just wish I had known, ya know? Ovulation kits are expensive. Pay for one blood test & make sure that you are ovulating & the kits are worth the expense. (But obviously, the research & opinions are out there. I guess I looked in all the wrong places)

P.S. I am going to another doctor for a second opinion. The more I can understand about fertility & my body the better chance I have at succeeding.

I wish you the best on this journey & I hope we can all have the patience it requires. Cuz dang, time feels speedy as an adult. Except when waiting for the positive result.
