“Breastfeeding is Not Good For the Brain”🙄

As you read by the title, I was told by my boyfriends grandmother that was telling me that she laughed about someone breastfeeding their 2 year old. My son just turned 1 and has been EBF since day one. My in laws side of the family have been anything but supportive. I get dirty looks about it actually. My boyfriends grandmother said, it’s not normal and its not good for children’s brains to be breastfed over a year. It’s “too much” she said. Now, I know she’s 80 and she’s an old school Ecuadorian woman, BUT let me tell you. My boyfriend has been supportive since day 1 and his family is so negative. I’ve gotten “why don’t you just stop and give him formula he’s almost 1” and “wow, you’re still breastfeeding him?” My MIL since I was pregnant said I wouldn’t make it past 6 months cause that’s all she could do because her sons started biting her and she couldn’t handle it. Well guess what, I CAN HANDLE IT, i told her just cause you couldn’t do it doesn’t mean I won’t be able to . My son and I made it to 1 year and apparently he doesn’t wanna stop lol although I’m trying to wean him. I’m just so sick of ignorant people judging breastfeeding and thinking they know so much but they don’t know anything in all reality . Guess the point of my rant is don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something and don’t let others opinions dictate what you do with your child and effect how you feel. ❤️
