Did your hospital show you how to install the car seat?

We had my little girl early so we hadn’t installed it yet. Being first time parents we wanted to make sure we were doing it correctly. We have a travel system and the instructions that came with it were how to use the car seat and stroller and had no information about how to install it safely in your car.
The hospital checked to make sure we had a car seat but couldn’t get us anyone to make sure it was installed properly. I was pretty shocked. We did the best we could then asked our pediatricians office if they could show us. They had no one! Y’all I literally can’t believe we can’t figure out if it’s installed properly. 
How do y’all know if it’s installed properly? Did someone help out or were the instructions clear?

You can call your local fire station and they should have someone to help you. Doctors and nurses are not certified in car seat safety and for legal reasons cannot help you install or put your child into the car seat.

No, thats not their job and also a huge liability for them. Our instructions were easy and my husband had it done in 10 minutes. 
Search for car seat checks in your area. Some fire departments do them but they have restrictions on when, to show, if you need an appt, etc.

You can go to a fire station and have it checked. I can’t believe no one at the hospital or doctor would help you! My hospital had to wheel us all out and check that our seats were installed correctly.

Hospitals and doctors offices don’t necessarily have someone certified on staff. Not all fire stations or police stations have a CPST. You can google for one in your area. Sometimes you have to travel to the next town.

Local police or fire department. Typically hospitals wouldn’t have anyone certified. Some pediatrician offices might but there’s a special certification they have to get plus it’s a liability so I know a lot don’t want to deal with the hassle. Our local fire department checked ours.

With my first I went to a police station. Our fire station doesn’t deal with installs my hubby now works there and it’s not their job. Police station can because it’s a motor vehicle safety issue.

Nope. They checked the car seat and told us she was in fine. Come to find out she was in wrong and incredibly dangerous 🤦🏽‍♀️

When we were discharged we had a nurse and a trainee follow us to our car, the nurse said to the trainee, just check to make sure they have one (car seat) but do nothing else.

Nope. They specifically told us they dont do it, that as parents we are responsible for that.
