Advice on moving baby to her own bed?

We have an 8 week old little girl and since she was born she has refused to sleep anywhere but on one of us. I went 3 full weeks staying awake while she slept on me, getting maybe 20 minutes of sleep a night and I was starting to go crazy. Long story short, I laid her next to me one night and we both got actual sleep, and the rest is history. Well, now my husband wants us to move her out of our bed into her pack-n-play bassinet (right next to our bed). I have tried starting with naps.. The problem is, she wakes up instantly if I try to lay her down once shes asleep, and she cries instantly if I lay her down before she falls asleep. Advice on moving her to her own bed without crying it out???

We're going through this with our 9 week old for naps. My understand is it is a process... put them down when they get drowsy, but not totally asleep. If the fuss a little, leave them be, but obviously if they start to cry go comfort them... and once they get drowsy start again. The idea is they will eventually learn how to fall asleep on their own, as opposed to depending on us to do it for them. Today it took me 45min of going back and forth with comforting her and putting her back down and I was rewarded with a 30min nap. Lol. I'd also suggest trying a white noise machine and seeing if baby responds to that. I've also heard (but haven't tried it yet) that you can use a heating pad to warm up baby's bed, just remove it before actually putting baby down, and the warmth is comforting and similar to the body heat you provide. If I've learned anything in my 9 weeks of being a mom, its that parenting is a ton of trial and error. Good luck!

It’s totally natural for a baby to want to be by a parent while sleeping. Some handle the isolation better than others. Mine absolutely won’t sleep in a crib, but I’ve been able to get her to sleep in a bassinet in our bed. After 7 weeks of literally no sleep, spending $100 on taking cara babies, buying every swaddle on the market, and going nearly insane I figured out she will only sleep on her stomach. I was nervous about it at first, but I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that the dangers of stomach sleeping are way over hyped. She’s slept like that for the last 6 weeks and now she only wakes up twice per night. I’m not saying you should do this or anything, but just saying that not all babies can just be put in a crib then quietly fall asleep.

I’m having this issue right now.. my daughter is 2 weeks old and she refuses to sleep anywhere but on my chest. I try placing her in her Halo bassinet but she wakes up within minutes and screams. She will  sleep for hours on me, but I’m too afraid to fall asleep because I don’t want to roll over on her.

It’s a process. We had a week of baby sleeping on us in recliner. A week of baby sleeping in bed in my arms. A week of baby in our room in bassinet but with boppy shoved in it around him. I know those are all no no’s I don’t need judgment but we all needed rest and he was supervised. Anyway I knew he needed to be in bassinet with nothing else so we started with naps. I’d put him in it alone and he’d cry. I’d let him for maybe two minutes then put boppy back. After a cpl days he’d sleep in there a few minutes before realizing it was gone. Then one day he slept without it fifteen minutes, small victories lol. Then eventually a whole nap and we were good alone in bassinet. He’s a big boy and outgrew bassinet so then we had to use pack and play in our room. At that time we started naps in his nursery crib. Another transition where if he slept in there five minutes it was a success. Eventually he realized he’s okay there and that we come back for him and now turning four months all naps and bedtimes are in crib alone. Be patient with baby and yourself, take it slow and know that it will work after some time.

My daughter was the same way. She would only sleep on me. We discovered that she liked to sleep on an incline so we put 2 folded receiving blankets under her bassinet mattress where her head would go. Once she got used to it and was sleeping longer I took one of the blankets out then a week after took the other one out. Swaddling, white noise & a very dark room also helped. 
Other ideas I've heard that can be helpful are to warm up the mattress before laying baby down or putting one of your shirts that you have worn in her bed so she can smell you (I'd take the shirt out before laying her down though).

Mine did the same thing and swaddling saved me. I just make sure he’s really sleeping and then I swaddle and lay him down. I also bought a white noise machine and it’s worked great! Good luck

So its going to suck but it will work eventually. Just be consistent in laying baby down. For us, naps were actually the hardest so I would try nights if naps arent working. 
Just consistently lay baby down every single night. If baby wakes up or cries either sleep with you as you have oe lay back down (depending on how tired you are and how long you want to stay up). 
Eventually your baby will sleep longer stretches and then hopefully through the night. We went through this around the same time and a few weeks later she was sleeping through the night. Then the sleep regression and teething hit so now at 7 months I had to do it over again but she slept through the night on her own last night. It's a long coupe werk process but it's worked for me twice and neither involved her crying for longer than it took me to pick her up.
Also try different positions - my baby hates her back but if I put her on her side it would work. Yes I know the recommendation is back but her natural sleeping position was her side and now her stomach.

Probably shouldn’t have started bed sharing in the first place lol. Don’t put her in her bed while she’s sleeping. Put her in her bed when she’s groggy and fading off.
