Ftm and no 16w appointment?

Question

I'm 14 weeks now and don't have another appointment with my midwife until I'm 20 weeks. This is my first pregnancy, and I was just reading that you're supposed to have one at 16 weeks? 
I've had a private scan scheduled for when I'm 16 weeks for a while, will they check me and the baby then? 
Is there any reason why I wouldn't have that midwife appointment?

Where do you live? At my doctor’s office, you have your first appt around 8 weeks, then one every four weeks after that. Eventually it increases to every two weeks, the every week at the end.  When was your last appt?

UK also, and just had my 16 week appt with the community midwife. I'd suggest calling them and asking as with all 3 pregnancies I've seen them at 16 weeks, they check baby's heartbeat, your blood pressure and urine etc

You just go every 4 weeks until the 3rd trimester
