UPDATE: so sorry for the wait! 
I told him and he is so understanding, It’s an antique ring that he got me with black diamond and white diamond. So I am going to use the diamonds but make it my own design. Also going to use some for his wedding band! He loves the idea and I shouldn’t have been scared to tell him honestly he is the most understand person and thinks like I do! He said that he doesn’t mind because I will be the one wearing it, and that as long as he gets to marry me that’s all he cares about! 💕💕🙏🏻🙏🏻 iam so blessed

You have to wear it forever, you should love it! This happened to my friend, her husband proposed with this HUGE ring that was just too gaudy for her. She also knew he had a ton of student debt and didn’t feel right about wearing such a huge ring when she would’ve been happier with something smaller and while he was struggling financially. They exchanged it for one that was basically the same design but the center stone was smaller.

I think you should tell him in a loving way. I told my husband the ring he got me was nice but I always pictured it round and not square and he he honestly said i could change it i had i think two weeks or a month they will do an exchange at kays and oddly enough I then loved it. But it might not be the same for everyone its better if he can give you that choice to change it if you can and for you to be excited about your ring

I gave my boyfriend a wish list of rings and gemstones off a website that I love. I think there are 6 rings, and 2 different sized moissanite gems he can choose to have put as the center stone. When the time comes, he can pick whichever one he wants based on price and what he likes.

I would tell him. It's better to be honest right from the start (even about small things) than trying to suck it up. You will always look at this ring so you should love it. My mom and dad have been married for 35 years and haven’t worn their rings in forever. You’ll have the ring forever but don’t have to wear it forever. Also, you can modify it over time for anniversaries. I wouldn’t say anything because he picked it out and he is using it as a symbol of his love. I think that’s more important personally. And you can modify it over time or get a different wedding band etc without “insulting” his choice and respecting the symbol he chose.
