Is it dangerous to drive on the highway as a new driver?

So my boyfriend lives an hour away and I got my license a few months ago (January) but I haven’t really been driving because I was away at college. I’m kind of nervous to drive that far especially since I have to drive into Atlanta to get to where he lives! Is it a bad idea for me to go see him? Like do you think I’m at high risk of getting into an accident?

Highways are the easiest thing to drive, in my opinion. It can be intimidating at first, but in time you feel more confident and it won't be as scary

I think it's a matter of personal opinion.
I've been a licensed driver for over 12 years now. For me, highway driving is the worse possible thing. I'd rather drive in the middle of a snow storm, than even one hour of high way driving.

Day I got my car I had to drive it home on the highway, at night, and I hadn't drove in over 3 years. Trust me, you'll be ok 😂😂😂

Be  careful and make sure you are aware of everything around you. If you don’t do it you’ll never learn 🤷🏻‍♀️ I made a few traffic mistakes when I was starting out and that’s how I learned, luckily I didn’t wreck but you’ll make mistakes in the beginning.

Highways are usually easier then in town driving but through Atlanta is hectic mainly during rush hour we went at I think 6 in the morning and passed through at 8 and it wasn't that bad but If your not sure then I'd say wait it out. Usually you can look up when the traffic won't be as bad but then again it's not 100.

I started highway driving when I was like 16, granted it was smaller highways aka no lane changes really (which I think is the hardest part of busy highways) and never had any problems. I started with more complicated highways and interstates around 18 and just naturally worked my way up. Just be cautious of your surroundings and only do what you are comfortable with.

I've been licensed for 6 years and I won't drive on highways over 80km/h. More than 2 lanes and I'm like "nope sir nope!" I personally don't think you have the experience or defensive driving skills to handle a highway.

I’m from the south and visit atlanta pretty frequently to see family (i’m actually here now) , and honestly , i would say have someone with you driving here or travel late at night / early in the morning . Traffic isn’t as hectic since things are shutting down , however , the express way here is a whole headache within itself . the lanes are pretty small compared to smaller cities , and missing exits can easily take your trip from being 10 minutes to 30.

I’ve had my license for a little over 10 years now and I am from Alaska, never drove on a real highway until I drove from Alaska to my current home in Florida last summer and it really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be :)
