Pregnant and being a nurse
Hello, I am almost 12 weeks pregnant and I am a nurse in a inpatient mental health facility. We often get people who are homeless. They are not offering any ppe available at my sight at all. You can get a surgical mask if you sign for it, which I do. However they are not as effective I do believe something is better than nothing. By the unit being inpatient some of the people are there for weeks and months depending on what the treatment plan is. This means they can develop symptoms while in the unit. How are other facilities dealing with this issue? I asked my supervisor about it and she has not returned my email yet. I am honestly scared.
The other problem is coworkers coming to work sick, my supervisor really sucks I think because how can you allow people to work sick using this time? I wear my mask my entire shift outside of eating my lunch or taking a sip of water, but being that even my coworker could have it, I feel as though I’m still exposed. I literally go nowhere but to work for the last three weeks.
Any advice would be appreciated.
