When does sex stop hurting?

My boyfriend and I have been together for over a year and we have just recently become sexually active. He’s super amazing and gentle and understanding and every time we have sex it gets a little easier but for some reason it really hurts for me. It starts to hurt inside and then the pain becomes equivalent to a burning sensation. Then because it hurts I can’t stay wet so that makes it worse... We’ve never had other partners so it’s extremely unlikely that it’s an STD/STI situation. I’ve thought maybe it’s the condom brand? Has anyone else experienced this when having sex? Is this something that I will just grow out of?
