Tots and babies sharing a room?

(Long post)I am currently expecting. My youngest will be 2 in June and I'm due in July. Currently we have a 3br. My oldest is 11 girl, has her own room and the 1yr old has his room and also the "office" computer and such is set up in his room.. this is a hassle bc when my husband has to work or school from home,, it interferes with my sons sleep schedule because my husband is working in his room. Plus, no play area so my son takes over the livingroom and its always a mess. We were supposed to be moving into a bigger house before new baby arrived, 4br, but due to the corona our plans were put on hold. Suddenly as we're in limbo my husband suddenly wants to get an investment property, a 3br duplex so we can rent the other unit out and basically have the mortgage paid for. Im so irritated I cant even explain it. I get it and it sounds like a good investment but.... we've been cramped in this house for 3yrs already and with a new baby coming i cant imagine it.  Hes suggesting the baby and the would be 2yr old share a room. Ztill no playroom or no office space now.. Im concerned bc i know babies usually wake up regularly in the beginning. My son took 9-12 mo before he slept over night. We kept him in our room for 6mo and then transitioned him to his room and crib. I do not want my baby disrupting the 2yr olds sleep, then I'll have two babies awake. I guess I'm looking for others experience with siblings sharing a room at that age. im having anxiety thinking about it.

I’m not trying to be an asshole but living in a 3 bedroom is hardly being “cramped” try one bedroom and I might understand. Put your baby in your room for the first year and then when he/she is one you can move them into the room with their older sibling.

I would NOT put an infant in the same room as a toddler. I don’t think that’s safe! What if the toddler climbs into the baby’s crib?? Or puts a blanket in there?
I would keep the baby in your room for the first year, as recommended by the AAP.

I think ultimately it’s going (as always) to depend on the children themselves. You can and should keep baby in your room for 6-12 months anyway so that gives a little extra time to find out what sort of sleeper your new baby is.
My SIL has 2 kids, 2.75 and 7mos, and they all sleep in the same room with no issues (they have three bedrooms, one of which is the kids’ room and one a study, but for sleeping that’s just how they roll 🤷‍♀️)

I wouldn’t do it. My daughter will be 18 months when her sister is born. We have a 2 bedroom apartment. My 9 year old is the only one who has his own room here cause the age difference is too big and he obviously wants some privacy at that age.
Big sis is sleeping in our bed and the currently unused crib is right next to the bed. That’s where little sis will be sleeping. Or in the bassinet in the living room while I sleep on the couch on rough nights 🤷‍♀️. Our living room is and office and a playroom at the same time. It’s quite practical actually cause you can chill or work while always having an eye on the kiddos. Which one year old plays alone in their room anyways? We plan on getting a house eventually but aren’t pushing it until we are financially ready (including backup). I don’t really feel all that cramped up here to be honest. I didn’t have my own room until I was 3 either cause my parents only had a one bedroom apartment

My first was 2.5 when our baby was born. They’ve always shared a room and it’s always been fine. For the first 5 months we had the baby in our room and our toddler was in there too, he never ever woke up when the baby woke up. When baby moved into their room they were both on floor beds, no crib, and all has been fine. Baby sometimes stirs when we take toddler in for bed since he goes down later but he usually just looks at us and goes right back to sleep. Our biggest problem is nap time, toddler goes down a little later than the baby, and it always disturbs baby’s nap. So we usually have our toddler nap in our room so the baby stays asleep.
