Being a Stepmom
Since my step children were 2 & 3 I’ve been that “mother figure” in their life because when they were ages 1 & 2 their mother no longer wanted them anymore. My step children are now ages 6 & 7 and refer to me as their Stepmom or “mommy”. Ever since I’ve been helping to take care of them, every Mother’s Day and even in general, my significant other never shows me no type of recognition/appreciation for me stepping up to the plate to help nurture his two girls. I’ve said something to him about it once and his response was “Youre not their mother, you didn’t birth them.” I go above & beyond for those girls because I look at them as my own and love them so much! When they need anything I’M the one they call on, they even call on me before they call him! But yet their real mother ONLY checks in on them around tax time because she thinks he’s going to let her claim them. Am I wrong for feeling some type of way about that??
