How long does it take for milk to start producing again?

My son is almost 7 weeks. And since the first day he was born i've breastfeed him but for maybe 3-4 weeks i haven't really been breastfeeding because I smoke marijuana. And I didn't want my baby to be high because I needed to smoke (I started back smoking because my Anxiety and depression was so bad after I had him). But I miss the bonding that came with breastfeeding and I miss it so much. Of course i'm going to stop smoking when I start back. But when I pump i'm only getting little tiny drops and when I used to pump I would get up to 5 ounces on one boob in 10 minutes. Is it too late for me to continue breastfeeding or does it take time?

You’ll need to start breastfeeding like your son is a new newborn so matching every two hours, or pumping every two hours but baby is better at getting milk then a pump is. The more milk you remove the more milk you’ll make. So make a schedule and stick to it. It will take a few weeks just like when you start feeding a new new born, for your body to adjust and establish supply.

It’s all about supply and demand. So the more you pump, the slowly your supply will start to build. 
I’d just make sure all the THC is out of your system/milk before you start nursing again.

Keep pumping as much as you can. 
Breastfeeding is better at building supply than pumping as a baby’s suckle is more effective at drawing out of the breast so as soon as you’re able (when it’s all out of your system) start breastfeeding again.
You can also do a breastfeed and pump afterwards to try and help build supply.
Also ensure your nutrition is good and you’re drinking plenty of water to help with supply.
Everyone is different- some people stop producing a lot of milk after stopping for a few weeks while others can stop for a few months but still produce milk.
