Epidural experience??

Question

Anyone have experience with epidural vs natural?? I wanted to do natural, but I'm terrified I won't be able to handle the pain. 
I'm also scared of lasting effects from the epidural

Epidural with both pregnancies and I most definitely do not regret it lol I also did not tear with either kid 👍🏼 my contractions tend to be very close together and painful when I’m barely dilated so I couldn’t handle that for hours on end. 
I also haven’t had any issues afterwards which is what most people are afraid of.

Had epidural and it was a bliss. Contractions were unreal at 5 cm dilated, so I caved. What lasting effects are you referring to? I was numb from waist down during birth and once I was done (gave birth, delivered placenta, was stitched up) I was wheeled into my room and about an hour or so later I could walk with my newborn in my arms. That's about the only "lasting" effect it had on me.

I’ve only delivered once. I wanted to do a natural birth but ended up opting for an epidural 9 hours in (18 hour labor - I wasn’t even 3 centimeters at that point). I had every intention of doing an unmedicated birth, but I had horrible back labor and was in so much pain when they’d have me lay down to monitor the baby. 
The affects of the epidural wore off within an hour or so after they stopped it. 
I will say though, it’s been 3 years (at the end of the month) since then and I do still have occasional pain where my epidural was placed. I’ll randomly get back aches right at that spot.

I had epidurals with both deliveries and with a spinal fusion surgery. No side effects or lasting problems here at all. Go into it open minded. If you’re determined to try natural then do, but allow yourself grace if you decide you need something. Every delivery is different and unfortunately we have little control over it, baby is in charge lol. Stay flexible to however it needs to happen for baby to get here safely.

I’ve had 1 epidural in childbirth - thank god i did or it would have been hell and I don’t want to think what would of happened

I just had my baby the 25th. I had an epidural at around 1:45-2. It was amazing I had been contracting for 18 hours at home and was exhausted. I hadn’t slept at all and the epidural allowed me to actually sleep. My husband was watching the monitor and I was having such strong contractions and not even blinking an eye. I started to push a little before 7 and felt everything. It had worn off. I had even asked my nurse when they first gave it to me if it would wear off and they assured me it wouldn’t but it did. 
I will say this, if I wouldn’t have gotten it, I wouldn’t have had the energy to push. It was hard enough and I can’t imagine if I would have opted out of it and not had gotten to take that little nap. It truly just depends on the scenario of your labor, if I would have started to push a few hours earlier it might have been a different story.

Natural with both of mine 16 month old and my little boy is 3 and half weeks just go in open minded, I found knowing I could have an epidural or any other pain relief at any time helped me loads.. I managed to breathe through contractions till 6-7cm then went on to gas and air .. every labour is different I think if I had long labours I would opt for one due to exhaustion .. just see how you go xx

Ive had 4 epidurals. My first one didnt work & only numbed half my body. And then they turned it off when it was time to push so I did that completely natural. It was awful! I dont remember anything because I was in so much pain. Oh & I had to have an episiotomy. 😕 
My 2nd & 3rd epidurals went perfectly. Short, easy, painless labor & delivery both times. Easy recovery, no tearing. Loved it! 
My 4th was a medical termination at 18 weeks so although the epidural worked, it wasnt a pleasant experience. Baby was little so I didnt have to push more than once... 
I'm 21 weeks with my last baby & will absolutely be getting an epidural as soon as I can.

I tried for natural, couldn’t handle the pain. Used the pump once To get rid of the pain and felt everything else including the pressure...they also tell you when to push, so don’t feel like you wouldn’t know. 
I wanted my baby to be delivered into a less stressful situation and I knew I couldn’t keep up with the pain, so I changed my mind and opted for it. Was able to sleep for 2 hours before I started pushing and it was the best option for us. You get to choose what is best for you...only you know how you tolerate pain, and this is quite the pain! Lol
