I haven’t told anyone about this...

So me and my friend were walking home from school one day and my friend (boy) was walking behind me with his friend... he ran up to me and grabbed my ass (I laughed to make it less awkward) but I felt so embarrassed and uneasy, my friend hated him after this.

Cut to about 2 months later... he was constantly asking me to date him and I ended up saying yes, my friend (who I was walking home with) fell out with me for this decision. Me and this boy went out for about 5 months and recently I’ve been trying to break up with him but he always begs for me back and even messages my mum saying he misses me.

Was this sexual assault and should I break up with him?
