Bipolar parent
So, I’m 15, mental illness runs in my family. I have depression and anxiety (and have been treated for it consistently for abt a year now). My dad is my best friend and can relate to my anxiety, we’re both perfectionists as well. My parents were never super happy with each other since at least a few months after I was born (my mother has had depression for like 2 decades but was re diagnosed with bipolar 1 six months ago) and she moved out when I was six. She has pretty much never been financially responsible and luckily my grandfather has been working had for most of his life so my mom’s never really been financially independent either. Now she is hateful and ungrateful for the rest of her family. When she moved out she rented a too expensive house and when I was 13 we had to move back in w/ my dad (I already had 50-50 though) she’s been living with us for over 2 1/2 years now and has continuously failed to save much money despite not paying rent. She has terrifying mood swings and the rest of our family has given up on helping us or at least her, and she lashes out with (if anyone’s heard this term before) bipolar anger. Anyone have any tips on how to handle any of this?
