Breat feeding and formula fed?

Question

Okay so I had my baby on Wednesday, I'm a first time mom so super confused here. When I was in the hospital I tried to exclusively breast feed but ended up needing to use formula to "top up" since she was starving after 5 hours on the boob. 
Now at home I am still doing this but super confused. I've been doing 15 minutes each boob, then formula top up. But she still seems hungry. I put her on the boob any time she shows signs of hunger but she still seems hungry. 
I tried to pump, but it's still only the clear stuff coming out and not milk. Is that normal?
I'm so confused! 😪 and so tired. What do you moms who do both, do? Once my milk supply comes in I plan to only breast feed but, please help me in the mean time.

It takes a couple of days for your milk to come in but dont give up. Keep offering boob before bottle. Stimulate your breast and eat and drink plenty of water. Its total fine if you need to supplement with formula. A fed baby is a happy baby. Just know even if breastfeeding doesn't work out for you and little one, you tried your best and formula is just as good.

When nursing let her drink for as long as she wants on one breast then offer the other. Then at the next feeding offer the breast you used last.
At this stage nursing long and often is normal. 
In the first few weeks I felt like all I did was breastfeed but it was worth it to build a good supply.

It takes a couple days for ur milk to come in. Plus baby could be cluster feeding. On top the fact their stomacha are small and eating frequently.

Keep nursing her! It’s hard work but totally worth it. You’re making exactly what she needs right now and she’ll go through a lot of growth spurts where it’ll feel like all you’re doing is nursing her. I highly recommend getting a Haaka. It’s a wearing suction device that will pump out milk while she nurses from the other breast. It’s cheap and the best way to get your supply up and building a stash (if you want.) As long as she’s having plenty of wet/dirty diapers, she’s getting enough to eat. It usually takes 3-10 days for your milk to come it but it’s hard being patient. I would pump at least 20 minutes to make sure you’re getting hindmilk (fatty milk), the most “clear” milk is foremilk. You got this!

I had to do the same thing for the first few days. My son ha jaundice so they really pushed the formula top up. I let him nurse as long has he wanted on one side then switched and once he was done I offered formula. After a couple of days my milk came in (you’ll know when it happens, get ready for some new boobs...) and then we stuck with just breast milk and it has been more than enough since. Keep at it mama, you’re doing all you can! It gets easier.
