Nipple piercings

Okay so I’ve had my nipples pierced for a good 4 years now and two nights ago I yanked one of them accidentally in my sleep (got stuck on my shirt). I woke up the next morning and my nipple was sore. I didn’t think much of it and just figured it would go away, but today it felt so tender and sore with pain. When I checked it, there was a bit of crustiest on the edges and there was discharge on one side (not a lot). Is this normal? Or what do I do to fix it?

I don’t really want to take them off if I don’t have to.
