Normal or not?

Is it normal to forget to feed your 4 month old? My dad told me today that my brother and his gf forgot to feed their son his bedtime feed and I’m just wondering if this is actually a thing that happens? They also have a 2 year old but I feel like to forget to feed your son is kind of messed up? He was up all night screaming and they thought it was just due to the heat wave. I’m always watching the clock with my daughter so I’ve never forgotten to feed her and she definitely lets me know when she’s hungry.

I mean, I can see not doing the last feeding and going to sleep if baby is already asleep. But of course thinking "I will have to get up in the middle of the night to feed." 
As for them thinking he wasnt hungry when crying, blows my mind...... that always comes across to me when baby is crying. Typically the first one. That and I watch the clock also.

No not normal at all. Well normal to forget if things are going good for baby but not normal to assume “hmm maybe hes hungry” when he is screaming in the night

Not really the norm...I understand if he fell asleep and you just let him sleep, then at 1am screaming for the bottle. But to totally forget?!? We actually have the opposite issue in our home. Our 1yo will be eating dinner, hubby gets home so I rush out to run some errands then get home and he tells me ‘he won’t finish his milk from dinner and it’s time for his bedtime milk’ I’m always like oops...he drank it all while I cut his food up and I already washed his sippy cup, he’s a chunk so he usually will drink up to 40oz of milk if you keep handing him a full sippy cup. We try to keep him around 28-32oz of milk, 3meals plus 2 or 3 snacks, our family is like giants tho....everyone over 6ft, no obesity just built sturdy. He’s 13mo wearing size 7shoes 98% for height and 95% for weight. I’d be really concerned with your families ability to care for both kids, I’d watch for malnutrition and failure to thrive, that’s sorta straight up neglect. Once is a mistake and everyone makes mistakes but to ignore a screaming 4mo and not go through your mental checklist of possible problems (HUNGRY,wet,cold,hot,fever,teething,lonely/scared) and not try to resolve/soothe the issue is flat out bad parenting. Please do something because if it so normalized in the home that the parents casually tell relatives they forgot to feed the BABY then it’s happening way to often, any good parent would feel so ashamed/embarrassed/guilty they wouldn’t dare mention it others.

If my daughter is screaming we go through everything to figure out why. Usually she ends up being hungry and I feed her but I would never put her down and let her scream all night

Idk, that sounds so horrible though... I watch the clock, record baby’s feeds, and even sometimes set alarms if I know I’m going to be busy/distracted/tired etc

It’s awful that they assumed he was hot and didn’t feed him overnight. That’s pretty much one of my first instincts. Change diaper, feed baby.
