Sensory problem

So I took my little man (11 months almost) to the doctor Monday and told her how he doesn’t like to eat food. He will poke at it but won’t want to eat it. He loves Cheerios and the baby treats but anything wet in texture or sticky he wants nothing to do with it. She said this was a sensory problem and set up a food evaluation with a physical therapist. My question is, is this a pointer to maybe him having special needs? Sorry if that may sound harsh.
