Is a 9am morning curfew and a 9pm night curfew too much?

Hello! I’m an 18 y/o who is about to be off to college next month! My dad has made my two curfews for 9am and 9pm. Is this reasonable? I wasn’t allowed to do much before turning 18 because he was realllllly strict then. I just want to finally start a normal teenage life without these early restrictions! I’m the only one in my friend group who can’t be out too early and who has a 9pm curfew!

I’ve never heard of a morning curfew before. So you can’t go anywhere before 9? That’s really weird. I don’t see it as reasonable. I also don’t understand the “his house, his rules” thing. You going for a morning hike at 8 am does not affect him in the slightest. It’s bizarre when parents are like that and you know there’s no good argument or reason for it if all they can say is “because it’s my house and I can make the rules.”

You can’t leave before 9? That’s really late in the day. I had to be to work at like 7 when I was that age. Can’t say I’ve ever heard of a morning curfew. 9 pm is pretty early for a graduated senior. I don’t remember having a curfew after I graduated. I just had to tell my parents where I was and if I was coming home so they knew.

I don’t believe in “under his roof his rules” shit. Your a young adult now, and some parents find that hard to accept that there babys have grown up and are young adults. I think something like 7.30-10pm is good but then again I also think you should be able to dictate your own day and plans around college.

Maybe you want to talk to your dad about curfews. In the morning, you could have work where they need you early and even spending time with friends late at night asking if you could have an extra hour or maybe later.
In college, you become a young adult. On top of that, you set your own boundaries, what you want, and limits. This is all for yourself as a woman who is growing. This will come over time too.

I voted before I read the description. I've NEVER heard of a morning curfew 😳 dad needs toilet go of the reigns a little bit.  I would understand maybe like a midnight curfew but 9pm is way too early lol and forget the morning curfew completely

I didn’t even know a morning curfew was a thing. I would say for an 18 yo 10pm or 11pm is a good evening curfew but for a morning curfew idk.

I’ve had a 7am morning curfew when I was living with my parents 5 years ago (mainly for safety reasons, which I understand). I had negotiated an 11pm curfew but it was still early i missed out on a lot of social life  because of that. A 9-9 curfew seems excessive to me so id suggest you negotiate.l with your parents. If they are concerned about safety, you can promise them to overcommunicate and maybe find a compromise somewhere

If he's paying your tuition negotiate with him on the curfew a bit. But he can't completely control you when your off at college. Maybe he's just trying to protect you because some horrible things can happen to people especially at college.
