Superficial Vein Thrombosis

On the 4th of July I got a random sharp pain on my left calf by where my varicose veins sticks out so I thought it was just my veins. The next day I noticed swelling in that area and it was red. It was so painful to touch, so then I thought maybe a weird bug bite. Well it got progressively worse and the swelling was spreading in a line formation and the pain was becoming constant and unbearable, especially when I was standing or walking. I looked up my symptoms and blood clot came up. I panicked and decided to go to the ER. My leg was throbbing in pain that night. I was limping because putting pressure on it made it worse.

Thankfully the ER was super quiet. Being a pregnant women with a possible blood clot, I got right in. They did a physical exam of my leg(the most painful part), took blood work, and did an ultrasound on my leg.

They found I have Superficial Vein Thrombosis. Thankfully that's the good kind of blood clot to have. But it is super painful. Being pregnant the only thing they said I could do was put a hot or warm compress on it and get compression socks.

It's been two days now and the pain is travel up my leg. I don't know if it's just because the clot has irritated the whole Vein in my leg or if it's moving or if the Dr irrated it but it hurts a lot. I am at the point where I want to chop it off because it's constantly in pain. The hot pack feels nice for a bit but I think it makes it worse because I always feel worse after. Cold does literally nothing. The compression socks I got are too long so the cut of the circulation at the back of my knee, which I've been told to avoid doing because I want to encourage blood flow.

Tomorrow I have to call my Obgyn and let them know what's going on and see if they can do a follow up appointment(requested by the ER Dr). I'm hoping with the pain spreading that it doesn't mean it's getting worse. I'm just unsure what to do and miserable because of my leg pain.
