Marriage counseling before getting married...

My fiancé and I are getting married next month and we decided we would go to a counselor before we did get married. For anyone who has gone I’m curious to how it works, like do you basically tell the therapist like what things we need to work on? Basically with my fiancé he has somewhat of a temper and we disagree quite a lot on things, we’re both very different and grew up differently. What’d I’d say is how he’s not very clean and that triggers me because I’m the opposite and how he has to be told to clean, he says he can’t read minds so therefore he needs to always told what to do and we always end up arguing in the end. I’m curious on how they talk with the couple before getting married
