Should I be careful about soap getting on my dog’s butt hole during a bath?

I know we need to be careful about getting soap on our butt holes, in terms of it leading to drying it out and potentially causing infections.  Is this true for dogs also?

I’ve NEVER heard that for humans or animals. You’re not putting it in your butt or in your dogs butt so there’s nothing wrong with it. My Aussie has a cropped tail but has long fur covering her butt and she gets dingleberries sometimes. I wash her from head to toe with dog shampoo. Never had a problem.

Umm why would cleaning your butthole with soap and water cause dryness and infection? If anything it should help prevent it.

As long as the soap is rinsed off well it won't hurt him. Even if it's not rinsed off well, it might make it itch a bit, but still won't hurt him.

A few days ago I commented on soap not being very healthy for a human's butthole and I got a shitload of negative comments, apparantly that's not a popular opinion on here 😂

Cleansing the pup’s rear, then rinsing off immediately after would be wise & considerate. 🙃 Best to air on the safe side, as you would with your own body. Soap shouldn’t linger on any orifice of an animal or human’s body.
