Tips on learning to drive at almost 23 years old?

I’m almost 23 and don’t have a license.
In high school my friend died suddenly from a car running a red light and T boning her. She was buying prom shoes on a normal sunny afternoon. She died.
Her older sister had died a few years before her from a car accident as well. 
Since then I have a horrible fear of being in a car accident. I gave up learning to drive. My husband drives me everywhere (I’m a SAHM). But I think I am ready to slowly begin to learn so I can get my own license.
How can I calm anxiety about crashing?

Maybe look into seeing if there's a defensive driving course in your city. That may be a good place to start

Something for anxiety and take it slow but push yourself to do it as well or you will never learn. I was the same way after I got into an accident but I just got up and did it because I knew if I didn't I would always have to depend on others for everything. Defensive driving course is what I did, the lady was awesome and so patient! Just always be aware of your surroundings, stay a good distance from the car in from of you, let your foot just glide lightly on the gas pedal. Once you do all that and get good practice in it will come naturally.

I’m also 23 and don’t have my license. I got my G1 (our learners permit here in Ontario) at 17 and hardly drove after that. I didn’t really have a good reason like you do, but every time my foot touches the pedals even now, I start to have a panic attack. It’s become even worse now that I have my son, and I really don’t think driving while in that state is safe for him or me and that gives me even more anxiety. I let my permit expire this past December for that reason.
Honestly at this point, I’m pretty sure I’m going to need some therapy or professional help before I’m able to drive on my own. 
I really think that working through some issues and preparing mentally first is equally as important as defensive driving tactics.
