Children and chores

Please let me know if I am being unreasonable...

About a year ago my son (who was then 11) asked if he could start getting an allowance. We agreed if he would complete a list of chores to do weekly then we would give him a weekly allowance. Here we are a year later and he STILL forgets some of his chores on a weekly basis or half-asses them.

I feel like each week I have to bring him back to the chore he completed to have him finish it properly. I feel bad for knit-picking but he really just half-asses the chore and I am at the point where I would rather do them myself. I find myself recleaning what he just cleaned because he didn’t do it correctly.

Am I being to harsh? He is 12 now and I would think that after a year he would get it all done and get it done correctly, but he doesn’t. I’m just so tired of cleaning up after he just supposedly cleaned 🤦‍♀️ I am truly over him having chores and I just wanna take them away as well as his allowance until he can take the job seriously
