8 year old temper

Does anyone have any tips on what to do when their child is angry? When my son is mad he usually will stomp, slam things, clench his fists so hard he shakes, glare and flat out ignore me. I’ve tried talking to him but nothing seems to help. This anger is usually triggered by his dad telling him he can’t watch tv or he can’t play video games. It worries me as I don’t like when he is like this. But I don’t know what to do about it. Do I calmly tell him to go to his bedroom and cool down?
