You really can’t trust anybody...

Long story but I’ll try to make it short. Me & my man have 2 babies under 2 and we had just bought our first home (first time home buyers)! We had bought a mobile home and it was a fixer upper but we were super excited to renovate it cause we have always talked about flipping homes one day. The home owner before us lives in Montana and she was kind of pushy when it came to us sending her our money (bought it full in cash) but we just figured maybe she thought we would change our minds and wanted to make sure she sold the home. We had to jump on this opportunity because our lease was up at our apartment and needed to be out within 30 days (that was kinda a surprise and left us with very little time) and the mobile home market is being eaten up out here especially in our price range. We had made sure to sign all of leasing paperwork & get all of our ducks in a row before sending her the payment. We had even asked her a couple times if she was going to screw us over because she seemed a little weird and she convinced us that she was Christian, a business owner and that she wouldn’t do that to us. So fast forward a couple days after we buy the place and start working on it, we meet our neighbors and the first thing they tell us is “an infant died in that mobile home due to black mold exposure just a couple months ago” I’m like WTF. So we call the previous home owner and get this...she BLOCKED both me AND my boyfriends phone numbers and the calls go straight to voicemail. We asked a couple other neighbors if they knew anything about it and a lot of them had heard rumors of that happening but others said it was another mobile home So we decide to bring in a professional. The other shitty part about this is the manager of the park that we signed our park application with had retired a couple days after that and had brought in new management so they had only been there a couple days and had no clue. We decided to ask them anyways if they knew anything about this and they just told us that the previous manager would’ve definitely mentioned something about it. The old manager lives on site so we find out which mobile home she lives in and decide to ask her what’s up and all she says is “uhhhhh idk, I don’t wanna get involved” and is acting hella sketch, LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. I think because she was retiring she just didn’t want to deal with the situation and I realize she doesn’t own the home but the prior tenants would have to had mentioned something to her about it when it happened! So 2 days before we need to be out of our apartment we get confirmation that the place is filled with black mold 😭 I’m absolutely DEVASTATED that anybody would put us and especially our babies in this situation and our freaking lives at a HUGE risk of DEATH!!! Im absolutely sick at that thought of losing my babies & I’m so livid that someone could be so heartless to do this to us. I feel so stupid for not getting our house inspected before purchasing it but like I said it was a time thing and we were pressured to jump on it before our lease was up & before someone else bought it so I wasn’t even thinking about it! I realized this woman who sold us the house absolutely knew what the issue was and she wanted to sell it to anybody she could without disclosing any information about it and now we can’t get a hold of her, she lives in a whole other state hundreds of miles away and we had already signed a lease for a place we can’t even live in. I’m so fucking upset at the thought of them not saying anything to us before buying this place KNOWING an infant died in there from this and we were in the office multiple times with our babies!!! I’m overall just so glad & grateful we found out before we moved in and could have lost our 2 babies and even our own lives. Some people are really fucked up & out there just to take your money and it’s fucking sad that’s the kinda world we live in. We aren’t really too sure at what our next step is regarding taking action since we can’t get a hold of this lady but we are definitely NOT living in an environment where someone doesn’t care what so ever about our lives and I’m getting ourselves and our babies checked out ASAP just to make sure we are okay from being in there a couple times.
