Gifts to sibling from new baby?

I want to get my 3 year old some presents from his baby brother who is due in a few weeks. Did anyone else do this, and what did you get? I don't think my son understands there is a baby coming what so ever and I'm not sure how the transition will go. Any ideas to make it a happy and exciting time for my big boy are welcome!

I never did this. My 2 year old understands she is now a big sister. Her older siblings definitely get it already.
But for her she sees my belly and she knows what babies are and when I’m sick she knows the baby is kicking my butt. She wants this baby so bad so that is her gift. She can’t wait to see him when he arrives. She watches videos of newborns all the times and she always says “I want the baby” so we let her know to wait and she always asks “tomorrow?” Lol. Kids are smarter than we love to give them credit for.

When friends have babies, we get a gift for the baby and the big sibling for the birth only. Outside of that, kids have to realize that sometimes it is about someone else. That aside, we usually get a book for the sibling, and a baby burrito wrap for the baby (Spanish teacher).

I got my daughter a video game (Paw Patrol fighter the Switch) but it's a gift from 'the baby'.  I also got a gift from her to give to the baby (stuffed dinosaur).

My son will be a little over 2 and I’m planning on putting together more of an activity bag then gift, maybe a new book or two, a coloring book, some play dough... basically double duty something special for him and quiet activities for when baby will be sleeping.

No. I don't see the point of it. Giving a present isnt going to make the other kid understand. Teaching them about the baby, baby's development, birth, and how new babies act will.

We got a new lovey for my daughter as a gift from her new baby. We always referred to the baby being hers to help strengthen their bond while she was just a toddler when she became a big sister. I think it helped for sure and my mom even helped big sister buy a lovey for little sister, so it wasn't a fight to give her the present when she was getting one too. 
Idk, when they are still kinda young, it's nice to give something to both kids instead of all to the new baby cause let's face it, new babies get a LOT of gifts 😅
