How to discipline 1 year old

I really need help. I’m a first time mom . My daughter is 17 months old. I’m trying to hard with my patience. How do I get get her to learn and understand. Like not to stand on the couch, this is huge and she has to stop doing it. She has fallen a couple time already. I ask nicely first and show her at the same time. Then she gets right. All up. She will do it over and over until I physically remove her off the couch and she then has a tantrum. HELPPP. Also, she is starting to hit. How do I teach her to not do this?
