Boyfriend issues?????

My boyfriend and I have sex regularly. Today, my period started. It’s extremely light on the first day, barely there. We have had sex multiple times before while on the first day of my period with no issues. He said sometimes he just likes to do it himself rather than have sex with me, this being a general statement and not just while on my period. I was kinda hurt by that. Am I wrong to be hurt?

You can be hurt. It’s a feeling. But you also need to understand that the feeling isn’t necessarily rational. 
Sex is work. Let’s face it. There is physical effort. In good sex, there is concern for your partner’s pleasure as well as your own. 
Sometimes people just want to get off. It’s just them on their own (or hint: mutual masturbation is great). There is nothing wrong with that.
So feel your feelings but do know that it’s not about you. That’s not a bad thing.

My husband is super weird about sex on my period, even after it’s over (he prefers to wait a couple days, just in case). At first, I found it a little offensive, but then I realized it wasn’t about me. During that time, he either takes care of himself or I’ll help him out. Doesn’t really matter to me. 🤷‍♀️
