Behavior changes?

Question

Lately my normally easy going little dude has been a handful. He refuses to sit in a chair for meals despite repeatedly asking for food. We have to lead him to the chair with some fruit and sometimes still that doesn't work. He usually loves bath time but our last 2 baths he has literally screamed the entire time. He also is waking more at night. Any thoughts?

I have a 6 day old newborn so I thought it was mainly bc he’s not an only child anymore but he’s been having at least one solid meltdown/tantrum daily either before naptime, dinner or bedtime... it’s horrid and heartbreaking watching him not want me to touch or console him as he flops and thrashes about 😭 it’s usually over wanting to go up or downstairs when it’s routine or normal for us to be downstairs about to eat dinner or upstairs winding down for bed etc. today was a long one and he was super sweaty. As soon as id think he was done and I’d offer my arms out toward him he’s start up again so hubby finally picked him up and snuggled on him.

He’s probably just struggling with control. They do that as they get closer to two (and never stop lol). He has no control over things in his little life so he’s probably being stubborn and challenging just to exert power. Mine will be sooo thirsty, but if I hand him his cup, he’ll smack it away and cry hysterically and then go get it himself like 2 minutes later 😂

My little guy has been stubborn about sitting in his chair for meals too. I think it’s a control thing too. Trying to be more independent and assert what they want.

Yes!!! Mine was an absolute sweetheart up until a week ago. We let him watch tv (covid has been a struggle for us bc he is a little high risk with past upper respiratory issues), he has always been fine with it. He’d actually more so prefer to follow me around. I’d say it’s time for night night and he’d get up off the couch and walk upstairs.
Now it’s not like that. He cries if we take him away from the tv. If it’s not on (bc now we are consciously not having it on even for us) he’ll grab my hand and take me to where the remote is or the general area. If I don’t turn it on he starts screaming.
All new within a week, and I’m like 🤦🏼‍♀️🤯😫.

Guess he’s going through a phase where he doesn’t want to sit still for anything, even food! Mine has been super cranky lately especially if we pick him up or clothe him. It’s a pain in the butt for sure !

I totally feel you! My daughter refuses to sit at the table to eat. She will on occasion sit at her own little table in her play room. I end up feeding her most of the time when she’s on my lap 🙄 trying hard to not create bad habits but at a loss. And yes, she has been exceptionally clingy and fussy the past month or two. I keep reminding myself it’s just a stage.

Oh thank goodness its a developmental thing.  Ill start presenting him with more choices (like maybe where would you like to sit? And move his booster there). The rest ill have to figure out 🤣
