End of our friendship?
Looking for some advice on a so-called friend. So my “Best friend” Who I actually haven’t seen in over a year, recently moved from being one hour away to 6 hours away. I had a baby three weeks ago and my entire pregnancy she’s been saying how she wants to be the godmother and how she is so excited to meet my daughter. Well in order to get to where she’s just moved to you have to drive through the town that I live in. She has driven through about three times in the last 2 weeks and has not stopped in to see me once. I’m a little bit upset as she still then messages me and says that she cannot wait to meet my daughter? But if she really wanted her then she could’ve just popped in when she was driving through.... I feel like this is just my last straw with her she’s done quite a few things that have upset me in the last year and I feel like this is just the icing on the cake. Do I bother continuing our friendship? She is honestly never there for me but I’m always there for her. I guess I’m just getting a little bit sick of it, I was having a conversation with my partner about this last night and he’s recently lost a best friend due to him simply being jealous that my partner has a daughter as my partner‘s best friend is not allowed contact with his daughter. Her partner made a good point that we are at an age where there’s just no point in trying to make a friendship work that obviously just isn’t going to when we seem to be the only ones putting in effort and getting nothing in return... but the thought of letting my best friend go just makes me so sad because we’ve been best friends since we were four years old, I’m now almost 22.
