Mute feature and call outs
Hi everyone. We have been receiving emails from multiple users regarding call outs and the use of the Mute feature.
Controversy Corner is a debate group and tends to bring out strong feelings. But the same Rules apply across all the groups in the app. Do not call out other users or groups of users, even under the thin veil of creating a discussion.
If another user has you muted do not bring it up or talk about that user.
Keep in mind if you have other user(s) muted you will miss parts of topics/debates/conversations. It can get confusing to see only part of a conversation. On occasion some users who are not muted by anyone will end up stuck in the middle with people asking who they are talking to or what they are talking about. If this happens do not call anyone out by name.
If you find this happening a lot and you have several people muted you might want to consider taking a break from CC and spending more time in other groups.
There are no rules or limits to the number of people anyone can mute, but having multiple people muted will make CC less functional as a debate forum for you.
Edit:
Call outs include people you have muted. If you have someone muted do not ask other users what they have posted, or talk about them. If you really want to know what they have to say unmute them. This is how rumors start.
Additional edit:
If you see someone being called out just report the comment. Do not tell the person who was being called out.
