Do you buy products with GMO

Question

I always wonder why people are so against GMO products. 
GMO, help creat plants/animals that are better for the enviroment. There are no known side effects, to eating anything that is currently on the marked and created using gene mutation methodes.
So is it a religious aspect?
Just the fear of new things?
Please elaborate your stand points.
Also gene Mitations do ocure naturally, just not as fast as its possible to do in labs. (A perfect example is corn, which has been altered through selektive farming)

One of my biggest issues is with roundup ready corn, which allows farmers to spray entire fields with herbicide. They find round up in HEAPS of products and I’d rather not ingest that shit.

This is a complex topic, as GMO is an umbrella term. I think there are a lot of misconceptions but also some of the criticisms of GMO are fair. 
For example, the use of genetic modifications so that plants are resistant to Round up. Round up is an extremely powerful herbicide and I prefer not to ingest it myself. The use of herbicides and pesticides also leads to mineral depletion in soil which means vegetables from that soil are less nutritious. 
Also some GMO vegetables just dont taste as good. Tomatoes you buy in a supermarket are basically crap now, just completely pointless. No flavor at all. I dont buy tomatoes at all except for when they're in season and I can get them locally and organically grown

GMOs also include selective breeding. Almost everything we consume is a GMO to one degree or another.

No. I don't want to eat things that have been genetically modified or something that's been sprayed with pesticides. (And yes I'm aware organic foods are often sprayed with pesticides but they are organic pesticides and not as harmful.) It's a personal choice. I wrote a paper about it in school and did the research on it and this is just how I feel. If I'm at someone's house or at a restaurant, I don't care, but when I'm shopping by myself I usually always get organic. There are some items I don't mind being GMO though.

I don't specifically avoid GMO, but I prefer heritage and heirloom varieties of food. They just taste better. 
GMO isn't bad - on the scale of pesticides, glyphosate isn't even close to the worst one out there. We use it to remove invasive plants in large ecosystems - a large marsh protect near me even used it with no ill effects to the surrounding water system. They've seen a huge resurgence of threatened plant species now that glyphosate has removed the invasive reeds. 
The real issue is that factory farming, which uses GMO grains, is a system with potentially huge impacts. But it's the system, not the GMOs.

While  gmo foods are safe there is effects on things that are often over looked. There is also the difference between gm (genetically modified) and ge (genetically engineered) foods. From someone who grew up farming and in agriculture ge foods pose a risk and danger to other farmers livelihoods and are a threat to heirloom and ancient plant lines. I know our heirloom apples will taste better than the gm apples but the ge apple orchard poses a threat to heirloom. He foods tend to be engineered to fight off basic parts of nature like pests. The same amount of pests are still there but if they now are deterred from the 500 acre ge orchard they will find a food source...aka my 150 acre heirloom tilth orchard. Those trees are now being destroyed by pests because the large corporate farm can afford to ge trees that fight nature. Then there is issues with companies like Monsanto. Monsanto goes mass amount of research on ge foods at the cost of local area crops. Currently there is no gmo/ge wheat for sale in the usa. Ot has not been cleared by the fda as safe so it cannot be sold. Monsanto will grow 5000 acres of test ge crops. Wheat rarely stays in its own field only so when winds/birds spread the unsellable wheat to a neighboring farm that farm potentially loses an entire crop because Monsanto cross contaminated them. There is a place and purpose for gm foods and as the climate furthers gets fucked they will become more important. GE foods though pose a risk to small farms, organic farms, tilth farms, heirloom farms, crop cycle and rotation, pollination, and neighboring farms. I will also say the fda has labeled gmo foods as safe for now...but only being around 2-3 decades there is still a lot of ongoing agro-science research on ling term effects of human consumption and soil effects post growth. If I sound overly involved or passionate it is because it directly effects my family and community.  One of my degrees is also in bio-chemical environmental science with a emphasis in crop/agriculture science.

I'm not against the science of GMO's (all for it), but I'm not a fan of the corporate aspect of it.  Companies like Monsanto that wield their corporate power with a heavy hand on small farms makes me less supportive of their product.

GMOs are super cool when it comes to plants. I’m iffy about the animal ones because they are all about making the animal grow faster than their body. All for human consumption. I still eat meat though because being vegan or vegetarian is privileged so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, it’s nearly impossible not to unless you want to spend a fortune on groceries. Organic is marked up by almost $3-5 on some products.
