Getting baby used to other people?

My 3.5 month old only likes me. Obviously I know that’s normal. I’m a sahm so she’s with me all day everyday. But my husband can’t even hold her while I shower or go to the bathroom without her getting upset and then once I get her she’s perfectly fine smiling and laughing. My mil tried to keep her while I ran some errands and said that she was pretty fussy. It makes me sad because I know they love her and she just isn’t wanting anything to do with them. And also a little stressful for me when I just need a little break. my first wasn’t like this at all. She’s a social butterfly and always has been so this is new to me. I always wanted a baby that was all about me and now that I have her it’s exhausting lol!

Oh yeah I can relate. My daughter is three now and still is only about me. It’s super exhausting but just know even if she’s fussy or upset about you not being there she is safe and loved and cared for! Also I tell my three year old “I’m going to the “doctors” so you have to stay with grandma for a few hours” so I can get a break because she knows she’s not allowed to come to the doctors with me 😂😂

You just have to keep trying. I don’t mean to sound rude, but you need to keep trying. Everyone wants to just give baby back to mom when that’s only feeding into the attachment. Your husband is perfectly capable of calming baby down and taking care of her while you take a shower.
It’s always nice to have an amazing mom and baby bond, but it’s also important for you to have a break. Just keep practicing with her!

Just keep trying mama! We were in the same boat for a solid month and what helped was having her dad just be in the room for bedtime routine, bath time and playtime. Every few days he would get a little more involved while I would sneak out of the room until he was the one doing everything. For example I would change her diaper, have him put her jammies on and swaddle her while I sat in the nursery chair or left the room. I hope that makes senses. Either way it worked for us and now she’s totally fine with her dad!

The best thing you can do is leave her with these people frequently for short periods of time to get her used to them (like an hour or so). She will warm up to them eventually but unless you keep doing it she will never be comfortable with them.
