Ummm?? Help!

So long story short, my bf has been gone for a while and hes coming back and i have planned like a stay in dinner (all cooked myself) and like just some wine and alcohol and stuff like that.. i also wanted to do something romantic for after dinner and i wanted to do this:

I was going to throw some fake rose petals on the ground with some tiny candles all over the place and kinda have it lead to the bedroom and ill be on the bed in lingerie (IDK sounds sexy to me since we havent had sex in over a month and a half) and i was talking to a girl from work and when i told her about this elaborate romantic plan she assumed i was doing the rose petal thing ironically and then said “girl i thought you were doing it for REAL and i was about to be so embarrassed for you”...

I have been with my boyfriend for almost two years and although he isnt a romantic type but something about her comment made me feel awkward about doing this for him. I made a post on here and all the ladies said to do it. But now im like debating whether i should do the whole flower petal/candle thing un ironically :( ik i shouldnt listen to other people but like then again dont men usually do the whole rose petal scenerio?

Idk give me some thoughts or maybe another idea of what i could do! I have never done anything like this before and i just want it to be amazing. Thank you.
