Does anti-anxiety/depressant/OCD/ medication effect the birth controls effectiveness?

I’m starting anti-anxiety/depressant/OCD medication tomorrow but I’ve heard anti-anxiety/depressant/OCD medication can effect the combination birth control pills effectiveness but my psychiatrist says that anti-anxiety/depressant/OCD medication shouldn’t effect the combination birth control pills effectiveness. I’m getting extremely anxious and overthinking that my pill won’t work. Any insight?

1. Diazepam and temazepam are a different class of medications than Prozac. Prozac is an SSRI, which is what planned parenthood is giving you confirmation on. 2. Its important to think about data on which this info is based on. Generally medical advice given by professionals is based on research, evidence, clinical trials, etc. This is the most accurate information. Info found on websites could be based on research, but it can also be based on my mom's opinion. So be mindful of the source. If you do want to look things up, look for peer reviewed data which has been published in a medical journal. They're pretty dense but you can skip down to the summary section where it tends to be more layman. You may also look at the sample or limitations to confirm it applies to you. Generally these are more painful to get through so it's still easier to ask your provider.
