Normal feeding?
Hi mummas
I’m a FTM and wondering what the “normal feeding” time is for bubs? My Bub is two weeks old today ( came two weeks early) and had been feeding for varying times - some feeds are 10-15 minutes and others are 35 minutes up to an hour. I’m worried that the shorter feeds are not enough for him. He has jaundice but not high enough for any treatment. Hospital said he will eventually pass the bilirubin naturally.
Our little man also ended up in hospital again when he was two days old because he stopped breathing during the night; hospital said it was because his blood sugar dropped (it was the time between when I was producing colostrum and when my milk was coming in). Since this incident I’ve been paranoid about it happening again 😣. He’s been feeding 7-12 times a day for different varying times ( as said above)
He’s also been staying up in the night for 2-3 hours. Is this normal as well for a two week old?
I’ve fed him, changed him numerous times and played with him to tire him out but he just what’s to be awake. Then he is more difficult to wake and stimulate to feed later on after he eventually does go to sleep
Sorry for the long post! Just need to see what other mummas think or if your experienced this.
